Ryanair Chase bid is off the table for Jagwar after a narrow defeat at Cheltenham's 2m4½f handicap chase. The seven-year-old horse, a 20-1 live outsider, drifted to 33-1 after the loss but is now being eyed for the Trustatrader Plate. The trainer, Josh Guerriero, is targeting a defense of the Plate Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, aiming to become only the third dual winner of the race in over 30 years. However, he acknowledges that the defeat might not be enough to warrant entering a Graded race, as the horse needed to win to justify the bid. The horse's performance on sticky ground and with weight might have been a factor in the loss, but the trainer is optimistic that the spring ground will help him in future races. The Ultima could also be an option, but the team is considering other races like the Premier Chase at Kelso or the Ladbrokes Trophy at Kempton before the Aintree festival.
